E-MTB hybrid electric bikes and bike conversion kits are what we would like to refer to as environmentally friendly dirt machines.  They combine pedal and electrical power to give you a riding experience unlike any other.

Powered by Crystalyte, these bikes can give you up to 3kW (4hp) of electrical power and when you need more you can simply use your legs to increase acceleration and top speed..  The silent, smooth power delivery and high torque of an electric motor is something that has to be seen or felt to be appreciated.

Running costs hover around 0.5 cents/kilometer and at the same time the drive system requires next to no maintenance for up to 1500 charges.

Put simply this means that you can reach speeds of up to 70-80km/h (without pedaling) and power up some of the steepest hills with little or no effort and in complete silence..... and you never have to get your hands dirty trying to fix it.

The best way to find out what a good electric mountain bike is all about is to ride one.  Spending your dollars on something that you're not entirely sure about is not something that most people can't afford to do. While accelerating and climbing steep hills needs just a twist of your wrist, you can up the pace a bit by using some old fashioned leg power.   There’s no jerky gear changes, no clutch, and you won’t annoy the neighbours if you ride it around your back yard because it’s as quiet as a normal mountain bike.  When you’re finished just plug it into the wall, recharge it, and you’re good to go again.

The non geared brushless motors require little or no maintenance (depending on their use and environment) for up to 100 000 hours, and you can get up to 1500 recharges before you need to replace the battery. Try that with a dirtbike.

They’re not a dirtbike, and they’re aren’t quite a mountain bike … they’re something quite different.
